At 5 Minutes For Parenting, we hope to share the real experiences of the “every Mom”. We all have our own struggles and flaws, but most remain unseen to the passing stranger or Mom at the playground. Imagine setting down those judgments and insecurities, and envision us holding each other up, no matter how different our parenting styles may be.
Please take a moment to meet the amazing parent writers that make this a place where everyone is welcome.
Our Ultimate Blog Party Giveaway is brought to you by A Dose of Humor – because really – we all need a whole lot more laughs to make it in this parenting industry!!
There are so many opportunities for laughter in parenthood. Nearly as many as there are opportunities to cry!! Hopefully maybe even a few more – we just need to focus on those laughter moments rather than the crying ones.
Eric Ruhalter wrote a hilarious book that captures the brevity of parenthood, The Kid Dictionary: A Book of Words that Parents Need But Don’t Have. He creates awesome words to describe the moments of parenthood, such as:
INVISIBOOBOO (in-VIZ-uh-boo-boo) n: – The site on a child’s body where you unnecessarily applied a Band-Aid to appease them when they got hurt, though did not bleed.
THREEMAGEDDON (three-muh-GED-in)-n.: The supposed hellfire and brimstone that would erupt should an annoyed mother reach the third digit while counting aloud to 3 to get a non-compliant child to get his act together.. “ONE !….TWOOOOOOO !!!!….. ”
WISHJACK: To maliciously blow out the candles on another child’s birthday cake.
SNOOT: To suck in rather than to blow out when blowing your nose (my toddler STILL does this EVERY time I try and get her to blow her nose!!).
KODICK: The child who refuses to cooperate in the taking of a family photograph.
And now you can win a copy of this book!! Just leave a comment on this post, and you will be entered to win. You may leave extra comments for extra entries if you subscribe to 5 Minutes for Parenting or if you have a button on your blog for 5 Minutes for Parenting.

I love this book. My granddaughter, age 1, is so serious when she speaks Kristen(ese) to us that we laugh as we try hard to understand. And she will continue to repeat the exact sentence until we figure out what she wants or we change her thoughts to something else. Thanks for the chane to win the book. And thanks for the party.
