Pink is our signature color

By Stephanie

I wanted to write out of the ordinary about our very extraordinary Megan (you- or rather y’all- also know her as Fried Okra).

She is hitting the pink pavement this fall to walk in The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for The Cure.

How have you been touched by breast cancer?

For me personally, just last year I lost my dear, dear homebirth midwife Lynda to breast cancer. It happened so fast, so suddenly, I still can’t believe she is gone.

And a couple days ago, I learned of a close family friend, someone I’ve called Aunt all my life, has just found cancer in her breast.

Let’s give Megan pink wings to walk this walk, give if you can, even if it’s small- anything is something.

You can visit Megan’s personal page here for more information about monetary giving.

Show your support- Megan has a team blog here and are Team Cure or Bust on Facebook (fan them!)

Go Megan! And thank you.

What an inspirational story. Thanks so much, Megan, for fighting for a cure. Your 3 day sacrifice is powerful and will mean so much to other families affected by breast cancer.

My Grandmother had breast cancer many, many years ago. Thankfully she beat it. My Mother had suspicious lumps in her breasts, but thankfully they were not cancer. I’ve known many women who’ve suffered with this, most have lived… thank God.

I still cannot believe how many women are diagnosed with this disease, though. I dream of a time when there is no such thing as cancer or disease.
