Carefree Laughter: a daily multivitamin

Laughter is a good medicine. It balms the soul when the waves of anxiety buffet. It clears the mind when lists and deadlines loom. It reminds us that life is still fun even if we do not enjoy the responsibilities consuming our thoughts.

What is there to laugh at? A silly hat on a toddler’s head. A preschooler magically turning into a doggie. A dog scooting its rear across the floor.

When we let our lists and worries control our mood, we need to stop, drop, and laugh!

Close the laptop. Turn the phone on silent. Turn up the stereo and dance! Sing a silly song at the top of your lungs. Tickle your baby until her laughter is so contagious your grey skies are bright blue.

Feel it. Be in that moment.

Your back, your neck, your head, your mood – will all thank you for caring for your mental health. Of all the daily multi-vitamins to take, your laughter is the most important.

you are right with ending the day. Sometimes we watch funny movies at night to wind down and have a good chuckle. And those stories we tell right before bed….nighttime laughter is so precious and relaxing 🙂

Amen girl! I just LOVE to laugh — and I love how often a three year old can make a momma laugh OUT LOUD!

This is so true! Laughter really is the best medicine. And I love the deep belly laughs that tickling a child can produce. Those are the best.

those deep belly laughs are so genuine! I don’t think kids know how to fake laugh like we do as adults. That is why their laughter is so refreshing!

This couldn’t be more true. When we start to take ourselves so seriously, we lose out on a lot of life’s little treasures.

And aren’t kids the best at keeping us from taking ourselves too seriously?

Yes it does! And there have been time when I will get stressed out so I literally drop everything to do a silly dance or sing a silly song and get rid of my bad mood.

So true! I love it when my daughter does a really deep, snorting laugh. When I get into a deep, uncontrollable laugh where I’m crying my daughter tends to start to and my husband just giggles silently.

It’s so hard not to find beauty and pleasure when there are little ones running around. They say laughter extends your life too – bonus!

Laughter is truly the best medicine and it can help you avoid conditions such as depression. The best thing about it is that it is for free.

Wow! I’ve forgotten the last time I laughed too hard. Sometimes, everyday routines really consume us and make us forget that even life’s tribulations deserved to be laughed at. Thanks for reminding me to laugh today!
