If You Have 5 Minutes

I have many moments of bliss as I watch over my growing family of three boys and a baby girl due in just several more weeks. The contentment and peace, the amazing life lessons they continually teach me…

And then there are the times I’m completely and utterly overwhelmed and secretly wonder What in the world did I get myself into? One day I feel like Super-Mom and the very next I can feel like the worst Mother ever.

At 5 Minutes For Parenting, we hope to share the real experiences of the “every Mom”. Parenting is certainly one of life’s greatest adventures. As much as we know deep down that we should not compare ourselves with others, we still do it. It’s comforting to know that not one of us is perfect. We all have our own struggles and flaws, but most remain unseen to the passing stranger or Mom at the playground. Imagine setting down those judgments and insecurities, and envision us holding each other up, no matter how different our parenting styles may be.

I had the amazing opportunity to seek out some of the best writers and Mothers while creating the incredible 5 Minutes For Parenting team. Be sure to read all about us at Meet The Parents. You’ll see that three of us are expecting new babies very soon. Many of these writers are your favorite bloggers and some might be new faces you’ll soon grow to love.

Each weekday a different contributor will share a glimpse of their version of life as a parent. These writers are Megan from Fried Okra, Veronica Mitchell from Toddled Dredge, Kelly from Love Well, as well as myself. On Saturdays we will be featuring you. The 5 Minutes For Parenting writers will choose a post or blogger that has recently touched us, and we’ll take this day to highlight those posts. Sundays will be a special day featuring your favorite bloggers and their beautiful words and stories. How privileged we are to have Gretchen from Lifenut, Melodee from Actual Unretouched Photo, Mary from Owlhaven, DeeDee from Fiddledeedee, and Tina from Antique Mommy as part of the 5 Minutes For Parenting family.

We don’t think twice about getting lost in the eyes of a child, but we must not forget the wondrous scenery from the view of a Mother. At 5 Minutes For Parenting we hope you can find us authentic and truthful- sharing what’s really in our hearts and on our minds. Take a moment to enjoy the voices of real Moms and our true stories of trying to figure this whole parenting thing out. We want this to be a place where you feel welcome, accepted, and like the good parent you are striving to be. We may be from different walks of life and circumstances, but we’re all in this together.

I’m excited about this site! I’ve always loved 5MFM, but found it to be too much all mixed together. I am excited about the splits so it will be easier to find just what I’m looking for!

I’m mom to a 16 month old son. Lots of adventure going on around here!!! Can’t wait to hear everyone else’s stories!

Sometimes the blogosphere can seem so HUGE…and then sometimes, it feels like it’s “a small world after all”.

Wonderful team of writers and PEOPLE; I can already tell this is going to be a special place.

    Welcome!

I’m excited to see what happens, here! Parenthood really is an amazing thing. There are those wonderful days when you feel fulfilled and you know that you spent many wonderful hours with your kids. Then there are the other days. I’m glad you are here to share and help parents in all the ups and downs! Hopefully many more ups!!

I just added you to my bloglines account. It’ll be neat to say the similarities/differences between this site and 5 Minutes for Mom. Congrats on your launch!

Well, I know that as much as I love being a mom, I struggle with it that much also! I am constantly wondering if I am doing it right – who wants to be the one who is responsible for messing their kids up, right? 😉 I am a working mommy so I have that guilt on me as well. I’m glad to have a place to turn to – thanks so much!
