Az the Husband: I went to the university Kroger last night to buy you flowers, and the place was full of university students, back from summer break. I saw this dork, and a pretty girl threw her arms around him and pressed her face into his back. Her whole body language said, “At last! I’ve found you!” But the guy just stood there, hands at his sides. Did not return her enthusiasm at all. And I thought, “Fella, I’m looking at her and I’m looking at you, and believe me, she is better than you could ever hope for.”
Me: (laughing) Well, maybe he was the commitment-phobic type. Maybe he was afraid if he responded, he would obligate himself to some kind of relationship, and it would interfere with the chasing of other women.
Az the Husband: Then he was an idiot. The having is better than the chasing.
We are thirteen years into the having, and today spent our anniversary meal eating pancakes and pie with our four daughters. I never knew it could be this good. Happy anniversary, my own sweet Az, the man I have and chase, both at the same time.
Happy Anniversary, Veronica and Az!
Sounds like a wonderful anniversary. Az sounds like a wonderful man.
