Party planning gone AWFUL

So I get a big fat F in party planning. It started when I was ten years old. I invited my entire family over for a “Mothers Day Feast.” I had seen this beautiful meal in a magazine and I was going to prepare it all by myself. An hour before the dinner I walked up to the grocery store and purchased an entire chicken (frozen). My family arrived and ate about three hours later! My mother was in the kitchen frantically trying to get this frozen chicken cooked. Still to this day they bring it up. Then there was the time I decided to cook Christmas dinner. ALONE. I was seven months pregnant and feeling apparently ruthless. I planned a fancy feast. Nothing turned out right and the dinner cost so much we still don’t talk about it.

Aiden’s birthday went about the same as all of the parties above. I had planned on going to Chuck E Cheese’s. Ok, not just planned invited my (rather large) family there. We were going to play for two hours and then eat supper at my mother’s house. We arrived at Chuck E Cheese’s to find that the capacity was full. Yes we could wait twenty minuets for a table but imagine the number of kids in this place to make the capacity FULL.

Also, the fourteen year old children smoking in front of the building made it seem a bit shady as well. We packed all of the family up in their cars (not as simple as it sounds) and headed over to Jungle Bungle. The capacity was not full but full enough. There were no big tables so we sat at two booths. The children had a blast running in circles.

Overall it was a good birthday. A party I will never forget. I realized this year that we will never plan such a big event for a party. Sitting home and eating cake will do just fine next year.
